Greetings, Students!

As Alexandria Tutorials’ technical support squad, I will be present at your first class to make sure your computer is adjusting properly to its new duty as conveyor of Mr. Turnbull’s instruction to you, the student. Last year was my first year assisting students in this capacity and I learned a great deal. If you are technically confused, please look over the common errors, below, before you call or e-mail our home. If you are still “stuck” after trying the solutions, please call us at 509-548-8500 and ask for Mr. Turnbull or myself so that we can work with you over the phone to make sure you are able to participate in class. Thank you for your patience and I look forward to talking to you all before class!

If you can’t find Mr. Turnbull’s meeting:

  1. Check what time and day it is: remember that Mr. Turnbull is in Pacific Time, so course times for your time zone may be different. You don’t want to be sitting at your computer waiting for class when it isn’t commencing until two or three more hours.
  2. Make sure you have clicked on the “Meeting Center” on the top navigation bar and not the “Training Center.” Several students (including myself) have made the mistake of clicking on the “Training Center” and wasted time searching helplessly for Mr. Turnbull’s Meeting.
  3. If none of the above apply to you, e-mail or call (e-mail preferred)  Mr. Turnbull or contact Webex Technical Support at 866-229-3239.

If your audio isn’t working:

  1. Run the Audio Tuning Wizard (found under the Communicate Menu of the classroom).
  2. If you can’t hear Mr. Turnbull, ask fellow class members if they can hear Mr. Turnbull. Sometimes there are problems with the network on Mr. Turnbull’s end of things. If no one can hear him, you likely don’t have an audio issue at all. Also, make sure your speakers are on. Test them by playing some music or other sound on your computer. If you can’t hear the sounds originating in your computer and the speakers are unmuted, you have a problem with your speakers and not with the Webex Conferencing.
  3. If the Audio Tuning Wizard isn’t registering your voice and no one in the class can hear you when the mic is passed to you, check to make sure that your headset is plugged in all the way and that it is in the correct port on your computer. If you don’t have a headset, make sure that you are holding down the control key. Occasionally, an internal microphone will not need the control key to be pressed down, so try speaking when you aren’t holding the control key.
  4. Make sure that your microphone volume is up and un-muted in the window located on your computer menu bar.
  5. If none of the above apply to you, e-mail or call (e-mail preferred) Mr. Turnbull or contact Webex Technical Support at 866-229-3239.
